Last night, she said...

Well, no post last night. Sorry. Good news is I was out with a load of musicians and MC's (all unsigned - so definately all hardcore!) so soon I will no doubt be bringing you stuff you probably haven't heard (and maybe won't want to).

Tonight I will totally try to post, but I have to make my house look less like a national tragedy and more like a delightful 'living space' as my best mate in the whole wide world is coming to toooowwwwnnn!! I am so happy, I could do a little dance.

Today I'm thinking in Detroit Cobra...

I love the Detroit Cobras. I've loved them ever since I discovered 'I wanna Holler (but the town's too small) back in 2005 and put it on a mix CD for a girl who pretty much hated me and definitely hated the song. I've given in to several people since but I think it's not really rubbed off on them too well. Screw them crazy kids, the song is a blast from start to finish and a great one to scream at the top of your lungs as a 'rapist diversion tactic' whilst walking home after a night out. Ooohhh no. Don't tell me you don't do that. I've heard you.

So here's the track, love it, roll it around your head space and feel each thump of the bass line. I warn you, some people may find themselves involuntarily clicking their fingers. It will get under your skin in a good way. You know, like friendly lice.

Detroit Cobras - I Wanna Holler (but the town's too small)

I thought I could never love the Detroit Cobras more. Then today I had kindof a sucky day; work was insane, I had shoulder pain that no matter what weird athletic pose I bent my desk chair into would not be alleviated, it was hot and I was in denim (like the 80's, huzzah!). I had my ipod on shuffle and was pacing the station platform when BAM! A song came on I totally couldn't remember hearing before. I instantly hit back and listened again, and there they were - the freakin' Detroit Cobras! This song is so awesome, it totally makes me want to put the collar of my leather jacket up, flip you my two thumbs and go "HEEEEYYYYY!"

The Detroit Cobras - (I wanna know) What's goin' on

It's like the Cobras have found the recipe for a perfect song - Parentheses, the word "wanna" and a really cute female singer. Oh, and hand claps. Did I mention hand claps?

This saturday the Hyde Park Wireless Festival gets pretty wired!

This coming weekend the Hyde Park 02 Wireless Festival comes to town, bringing maybe one of the best electronica and dance line-ups together in a long, long time. Saturday the 16th of June sees Daft Punk playing with biggest fan LCD Sound system, but this time he hasn't set them up kid, set them uuuppp!

There is way too much going on for me to simply recap, so instead I'm gonna let the music do the talking. As current London scene-stars New Young Pony Club will be playing the main stage I'm hitting you with not only the best remix of Ice Cream to date, but also the band's own remix of The Gossip's Jealous Girls. The Klaxons will be rocking up the XFM stage alongside Simian Mobile Disco which should be a huge treat for fans of the UK dance/electronica/indie scene. I pretty much don't get the fuss surrounding the Klaxons but I do love the Van She remix of Gravity's Rainbow found on a recent Kitsune Maison release so you can grab that right here. From the same mix I'm giving you the Simian Mobile Disco boy's I believe, which, tragically is Not a remix of the Frank Sinatra classic.

I think personally I'm most looking forward to CSS - Music is my hot hot sex is pretty much my morning routine soundtrack right now, so listen to it and imagine me tussling with the wilderness of my hair...

Now download my Hyde Park 02 Wireless Festival choices, make a playlist with an aptly bitchin' name and rock the shit all the way upppp!!!

Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger [Custo Special Blend Remix]

LCD Soundsystem - Daft Punk is Playing at My House

New Young Pony Club - Ice Cream [Popular Computer Remix]

The Gossip - Jealous Girls [NYPC remix]

The Klaxons - Gravity's Rainbow [Van She remix]

Simian Mobile Disco - I believe

P.S: For a full line-up check out the official website. and weep if you have not yet got your tickets!

Andrew Bird Vs. Dosh...

Two posts in one day? Holy Foccaccia!

So as y'all know I was at the Andrew Bird gig the other day, listening to him jam with Mr. Martin Dosh. I gave you some Andrew Bird and a little St. Vincent but holy hell, where's the Dosh?! So, in order to be extra lovely and because it's been a beautiful weekend here in the hot hot city I'm giving you a little audio comparison. First of all I'm hitting you up with Simple Exercises from Dosh's Pure Trash album. It's a smooth lesson in keys layered with quiet whispers and gradually building break-beats which challenge the occasional dissonance in the melody. Or, in fewer words, it's deyyamm suweet. Next I want you to listen to Simple X which finds Mr. Bird adding his signature whistles and lilting vocals to the Dosh track. Question is, which do you prefer? And indeed, does it matter? They're both Hot Sh*t!!

Dosh - Simple Exercises

Andrew Bird - Simple X

[by the way, the Andrew Bird track was given to me on a slightly oddly monikered mix cd... so it may show up a little strangely on your I-tunes!]

The Inked Up Playlist!

Second hand shops are my hot hot sex. Some days living in London is expensive beyond belief so unless you're into five finger discounts or the no-food diet, it's markets, thrift stores and charity shops all the way!! Today I scored a complete bargain in a second hand bookstore on Tottenham Court road; The Taschen '1000 Tattoos' compendium of inked up crazies across the ages for £6 - SIX FREAKIN' POUNDS!! It's almost worth it just for the woman with "No meat on FRIDAY?" tattooed on her jardin de dame alone. So in honour of this treasured find, I have assembled a few tattoo themed tracks for your aural delight!

There's a weird L theme going on here too; I'm slapping a couple of Laura's and some Long Blondes right on your mp3 players hos!

The Long Blondes - Swallow Tattoo

Laura Burhenn - Tattoo

Laura Veirs - Don't Lose Yourself

Disclaimer: Ok, so Don't Lose Yourself isn't really a tattoo themed song, but Miss Veirs does sing "admired your divine tattoos" in a kind of cute way so it's all gravy baby.
